The Egg

The Egg is a new chamber opera devised with composer Tomos Owen Jones for RWCMD’s Atmosphere Festival based on Andy Weir's short story.

The Egg reimagines society’s perspective of life and death and follows someone’s journey through the afterlife prompting the audience to explore the difficult questions surrounding mortality.

The opera uses contemporary dance to portray the story through a new visual language that combines operatic voices placed beyond the stage with dance and gesture.

Presented by May Street Opera.

Performed at the Bute Theatre, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, May 2023.
